AMPEG V-2 AMPLIFIER HEAD 60-WATT

Recently restored this beast in the shop here in Austin, TX...it's back to it's former glory, and everything (both channels, Pad & EQ switches, reverb) works the way it should again. Absolutely KILLER 60-watter!

Seems like these V-2's are much harder to find than the big brother V-4. I find them more useful actually, as you can get the power section into saturation at a more friendly decibel range. This thing screams!!!

Partial electrolytic recap including the axial 47uF filter, cathode bypass, and bias supply caps. Fresh tubes in the 12AX7, 12DW7, and 12AU7 positions. Original 7027 power tubes tested strong and matched and were left in place. Original Mallory canister caps tested in-spec with low ESR and were left installed since the amplifier has very quiet background noise operation. NOTE: I do have the SNK radial filter cap replacement kit available in-store, but it is a lot of extra $$$ in both parts and labor to install, so that is a totally separate & optional service that is available.

Rebuilt the front end of Channel 1 around the first preamp tube, and disassembled and cleaned the volume pot wiper contacts as it had a static noise trailing notes that is now gone. Reflowed solder joints to all tube sockets and cleaned the sockets themselves. Installed brand new 16AWG 3-prong power cord as the original was dilapidated and unsafe. Removed "death cap" and upgraded the pilot lamp resistor which often fails out of spec. Amplifier performance is excellent and sounds AMAZING on both channels!!!
